I got this idea off pinterest and decided to give it a go. It was pretty simple to do and all I really needed were some Christmas lights and coffee. The hardest thing was trying to simulate the lighting I wanted. It took at least a half hour of trying to cover my umbrella lamp with white and black sheets to get this. Several of the photos I took had good foreground bokeh, but this wasn’t one. For this one, I had to edit in some bokeh from other pictures. I also ended up adding the steam in the coffee because it got cold near the beginning of the shoot. People portraits are fun to do every so often because there is a lot of preparation you can do for them, as opposed to landscapes.
You can see one of my other favorite portraits of Kristin here. I hope you like the results!
