I never got this girls name but she was a Brazilian model that I had shot with at a recent meet up that I had attended that was put on through Meetup.com. It was definitely a great new experience and my first time working with so many other photographers and models. There were people from all over and a lot of the models were Brazilian and barely spoke any English which was interesting. We would almost have to show them ourselves what poses we wanted them to go in so that they could do them. I had been working recently on trying to better myself with photographing people since, as you may have noticed, I don’t photograph people often. It is completely different from landscape photography in the sense that you can’t take all the time in the world to get things done. Rather you need to be accurate and know what you want and how to do it quickly so that you can get the most of the time you have with the model. Also, because it involves another person, you have to keep their interests in mind sometimes and make sure they know that they are doing a good job or if they need to fix something, etc. I wanted a few close up with soft light on the models faces so for the shot I had the model go sit down in a shaded area in the middle of a courtyard that was at Balboa Park in downtown San Diego, California. I zoomed in pretty close to her face and kept a wide open aperture in order to separate her as much as I could from the background. The whole image was processed in Photoshop CS6 with basic levels and curves adjustment and some general touching up a headshot photo.
