Double Helix

This is the Double Helix staircase in the Vatican, located in Rome, Italy. My girlfriend and I visited Rome shortly after Venice. Prior to visiting the Vatican, we visited several of the well known galleries in Florence. Surprisingly, we both thought the Vatican had much more to see and was, overall, more impressive. Although some of the more famous works, like David, were in Florence, the Vatican was gigantic and had something for everyone. Also, seeing The Creation of Adam in the Sistine Chapel was a treat in itself. The first time I visited Italy, I didn’t visit the chapel because we didn’t have tickets and the line was too long to wait. This time, fortunately, we got tickets in advance.

I took this shot with several bracketed photos because of the amount of people using the staircase. I combined the photos in Photoshop and ended up with this. With a little editing, I tried to make it look like it did when I was there. Hope you like the results!
